More Than Fitness.

Fitness is what most gyms sell — sweat, soreness, a number on a scale. Strength is different. Strength is the ability to perform when it matters, stay capable for the long haul, and build resilience along the way. That's what we train. And it changes more than how you look — it changes how you live.

What We Believe

Strength training doesn't need to be reinvented. It needs to be done exceptionally well, for long enough to get good — because the long way is the shortcut.

Strength should be measured. If progress isn't defined, it didn't happen — so every client here is tested, tracked, and retested.

And coaching is more than cheerleading. Real coaching means listening, measuring, and telling you the truth — guidance that gets the most out of every hour you put in.

We didn't invent strength training. We gave it a purpose.

What We Believe

Movement First, Load Second

You can't strengthen what doesn't move right. Every client's mobility is screened before a single rep is programmed. If something is limited, we address it first — not ignore it and hope it doesn't become a problem.

Strength is more than fitness

It's the ability to stay active, stay capable, and say yes to the things that matter to you — for decades, not just months. Everything we program serves that outcome.

Your body deserves a plan

Not a template. Not a workout someone pulled up on their phone. A plan built on your assessment data, your goals, and the specific things your body needs right now. Updated as you progress. Tracked so you can see it working.

Meet Your Coach

Sterling Stalnaker

FOUNDER & HEAD Strength COACH

Sterling has spent the last 10 years coaching strength — working with everyone from professional athletes to people picking up a barbell for the first time. What ties it all together is a love of movement. With 30+ specialty certifications behind him, he's built a coaching approach where how you move always comes before how much you lift.

In 2023, he founded Strength Affect to bring that same high-level strength and movement training to the North Shore. He'd seen too much of the industry reduced to losing weight in six weeks, and he wanted to build something different — a studio and a system designed around moving better and getting stronger for the long run. The goal was simple: help the runner, the paddle player, the golfer, and the person just finishing rehab move well, get strong, and keep doing the things they love.

Micah Reyes

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH

Micah studied Exercise Science at Calvin University, where he also competed in track and field for four years. After graduating, he stayed on an extra year with Calvin's strength and conditioning department as an intern, coaching athletes through their training. He then spent a year working as a physical therapy assistant — an experience that sharpened his eye for how the body moves and recovers.

What stands out about Micah is how he coaches. He leads with relationships, taking the time to really get to know each client and what they're working toward. Outside the studio, he's on the golf course, training, or putting in the work to keep sharpening his craft.
